Google has a lot of special features that the average Googler knows nothing about. Below, we highlight a few of Google’s useful search features.

Simply type in the weather operator, followed by the name of a location. You can also type in a zip code for more specific results.
One very useful feature is Google’s ability to retrieve the current time for a location.

Of course, this might not be easier than looking at your wristwatch. However, if you need to know the time in another time zone, all you do is type ‘time’ in Google’s search bar, followed by the location. If a location name is ambiguous, as in the example above, multiple results will be shown.

While its functions do not yet compare to my beloved TI-89 Titanium calculator, Google is great for relatively simple arithmetic calculations, including square roots, logarithms, order of operations, and trigonometric functions such as sine and cosine.
Google calculator also defines various constants such as e and c(speed of light). Try typing those letters into Google’s search bar to see the result.

But that isn’t all.
The calculator can also perform just about any unit conversion that I can think of, from temperature to weight to pressure to length. And both American and metric units are supported. (If you know any current Chemistry or Engineering students, be sure to let them know.)
Perhaps you should ask Google. Google has a built-in currency converter.

Try typing in other currencies such as the Euro, or the Yen.

By using the define operator, you can have Google retrieve definitions for a given word.
You can look up phone numbers by simply typing them into the search field. All numbers that are in the phonebook will be retrieved.

It is also possible to look up a name by using the phonebook operator. Take a look at this search: phonebook: john doe.
And yet, there are still many other features such as flight status, package tracking, stock information, real estate listings, and even a patent search. Click here to see a complete list of Google’s search features.
Clearly, you can do just about anything from the Google home page. Its no wonder that they’re number 1.
