Blog Your Way into Google in Less Than a Month!

Believe it or not, you can get your blog indexed and ranked by Google in less than 30 days. We’ve provided a list below to give you some advice on how to do it.

1. Provide useful information.

While it is very easy to get over-concerned about traffic or pagerank, it is better if you focus on delivering high quality content. Traffic and pagerank will come in due time.

2. Spy on the competition.

Take a look at other successful websites in your industry. While you can’t copy their content, you can get an idea of how they appeal to their users. Steal some of their tricks.

3. Always think about SEO.

While you don’t want to overdo it, it is always a good idea to have keyword-rich headings, title tags, meta descriptions, and meta tags. Similarly, you should also be aware of keywords when writing content.

4. Submit your blog to search engines and directories.

Try to submit your website to as many directories as you can. You will also see options to submit your RSS feed. Remember, every link to your website is another way for visitors to find you.

5. Make sure your blog is well-linked.

Most blogs are generally well-linked due to tags, categories, and archives. Even so, however, older entries are generally buried under newer ones. To avoid this from happening, you should consider linking to older — perhaps related — post within newer posts.

6. Be unpredictable.

Try posting at a variety of different times. Also, vary both the content and the length of articles.

7. Only post unique content!

While it may be hard to regularly write new articles, do not opt for reposting duplicate content. This could result in penalties from search engines.

8. Respond to visitors.

If someone comments on your blog, feel free to respond to them. This will help a community to develop around your blog. And who knows, your visitors may begin to link to you from their websites.

9. Be controversial.

Every now and then it will do your blog some good to post a controversial though-provoking article. It’ll spark traffic and conversation, and it will also make very good link-bait.

10. Resist the urge to add advertisements.

Most people blog to make money. However, while your blog is in its infancy, you should resist the urge. By adding ads to early, you may risk losing credibility or hurting your position in Google. (See our article on the Google sandbox.)

11. Get known in the internet community.

There are so many internet forums, social networking sites, and social bookmarking sites. Get out there, make friends, and leave a link to your website wherever you go.

12. Write content for everyone.

The easiest way to alienate readers is to publish for a very targetted audience. Instead, vary your content so that you have something to appeal to just about everyone.

13. Publish posts during the week.

Statistics show that most people are online during the week. So if you aren’t posting content everyday, try to make sure to post content on weekdays.

14. Make sure Google knows about you.

Every time that you publish a post, be sure to ping a service such as Ping-O-Matic. This will notify Google, along with a few other search engines and syndication services. Additionally, create a sitemap and regularly submit it to Google.

15. Don’t let up.

Be sure to regularly publish posts. When you are starting out, it is more important than ever to remain active.

Building a successful blog and getting ranked by Google — all in less than a month — will take a lot of persistance, but it is definitely doable. The 15 tips we’ve listed above will put you on the right track.
