yep, fasthosts and ukreg stink and so does their customer support. Our domain expired and even though we updated out payment details it took numerous phone calls (waiting on hold for hours) to their support desk for them to take payment and update our acount. Over 3 days the domain was down, but the worst thing about it was ukreg/fasthost automatically change the domain name servers to an advertising site.
I cant comment if this is normal practise but I do think it is a little naughty.

I’ve very recently purchased godaddy product with a great discount.Now it’s offering domain names at just $1.99 instead of $9.99 for every non-domain product purchase.So a saving of $8 per domain. To host my domains I use JustHost hosting it’s $3.95/month

Most of the codes ending in 1, 2 or 3 have expired. Thankfully, there are replacements so I thought I’d share the ones I haev:

MTECH8 or EMMA7 for 10% off your order
MTECH9 or EMMA8 for 20% off $50 or more
MTECH10 or EMMA9 for 30% off .com domains (and it works on renewals)
They don’t expire till July 2010 and have no limitations on how much they can be used

Plus MTECH25 or EMMA25 for 25% off $100 or more, but these expire end of August 09, so use them quick!

Indeed, Godaddy offers the absolute best in domain registration and customer service. Many’s the time I’ve phoned them at 4 in the morning and talked to an actual human who assisted me with a website issue!

In the interest of keeping up to date, my usual list of codes has been updated:
RRTV5 – 10% off any order not already discounted.
RRTV6 – $5 off orders of $30 or more
RRTV7 – .COM for $7.49 (this one is my personal fave)

It’s just adding to this growing list but I hope it helps other people. We all gotta save where we can these days!

I am a .NET Programmer, and these completely verified godaddy discounts can be extremely useful when buying or renewing a domain. Use Godaddy promo code ZINE7 for $7.49 .com domains and renewals. I save about $10 every time I purchase from go daddy. When You buy at least five domain names, I also get free private registration when I use ZINE7.

For other Godaddy.com promo code coupons, use ZINE5 for 10% off, ZINE6 for $5 coupon any purchase of $30 or more, and ZINE25 for $25 off any purchase of $100 or more, like hosting plans.

Yea, MFA junkies used to do that. Test it for adsense; if it didn’t garner the results they wanted, they’d just refund. The powers at Godaddy actually swiped some accounts that were obvious…100 or so at a time.

@Dennis: Wow. Well, I have never refunded. But now that I know how easy it is, I might start buying domain names a little more freely.

You know, I’ve heard that a lot of people make big sums of free money by regularly refunding domains. ie. They register a domain, throw on some advertising, refund it a few days later and keep the loot. This way, they never pay registration fees but do get to take advantage of affiliate advertising.

@binaryday: Some of those codes are non-expiring, so I’ve saved them for some time, and others are sent to me via various newsletters and GoDaddy promotional emails.

@Yan: I’ve never used name.com. I just checked them out and their standard domain prices seem to be in the same range as GoDaddy.

I use GoDaddy just because of their name, they are secure, have regular promotions and excellent support.

@Nihar: As Yan stated, you do need to keep paying for domains. It’s called a domain renewal.

Your domain, for example, expires in January 2010. That is when you will have to renew for an additional period of time. (ie. 1-10 years.)

@Kurt: Not bad. Do you own only one domain? Or have you purchased others?
