The Google Chrome web browser made a great showing when it was released late last year. It was fast, lightweight, and full of certain innate features that could only be achieved by using addons in Firefox or Internet Explorer.
However, it still left a bit to be desired. But now, with this newest version, Chrome just got that much more exciting.
While the release candidate won’t be ready for some time, the pre-beta version of Chrome 2.0 is available for download and testing. So what’s in this new version?
By far, the greatest improvement to Chrome is the ability to setup multiple browser profiles. What this means is that you can set up different sets of bookmarks, history, cookies, homepage, etc. This is useful, for example, if you want to set up different profiles, such as a unique profile for work, to separate your bookmarks and history from your home profile. And you can even create convenient Desktop shortcuts for each profile, to enable easy access.
This feature has been improved and is now faster and more reliable.
One of the reasons why Firefox is so great is that it can be extended by the use of addons, most of which are contributed by its community of users. Well, now it appears that Chrome 2.0 will also have a similar system for the incorporation of user scripts.
Additional features and details can be found in the Chromium Developer Documentation on the development site.

@Melvin, yes, Chrome is nice. I did have some problems with an early beta. But they have since fixed all bugs.
@Tom, thanks for stopping by. Why would you say that Firefox is the best browser for internet marketing? Do you use any special addons?
I´m just so familiar with firefox, and the tabbed browsing it offers is excellent.(Chrome seems to have tabbed browsing as well).I guess I could switch over to Chrome.

I love my firefox 2 so much to move on to chrome. So chrome will be better for later maybe
I tried Google Chrome before, but reverted back to Firefox. I didn’t really have any problems with it, but there weren’t too many things in there that really wowed me either. Maybe the 2.0 version will be a little different.
I don’t know why, but I like trying all the browsers out there, even though I am perfectly happy with Firefox. I must say though, the Safari layout is the one I like the most. Too bad the PC version is so bug-ridden.
TrainWreckIdeas’s last blog post..Birthdays = Depression
@Kurt, yes many people often stick with Firefox and generally just use Chrome as an occasional second browser. But maybe Chrome 2.0 will win you over.
@TrainWreckIdeas, yeh… PC users are stuck with IE, Firefox, or Chrome. And yes, most of the cool things about Chrome seems to have been the features that were made for web geeks or developers. So for the average user, a switch isn’t really worth it.
I use chrome for youtube only..Am i missing something out?
Ben Pei’s last blog post..Why I Think It’s Important To Have A “Must Read” Section
@Ben: Only for YouTube? I haven’t heard that one yet… But I like it because its super fast and it has many built-in features that the other browser do not have.
