It’s that time again. Google has just initiated another pagerank update! Webmasters started noticing PR changes yesterday, September 27.

There are various free tools around the internet that will enable you to check your Google pagerank. One that we suggest is PRChecker.info.

You can also consider installing a browser plugin. For Firefox users, there is a plugin called LivePagerank. Once you install it, you will be able to automatically see the pagerank for every page that you visit.

What Do Changes in PR Mean?

Pagerank is a measure of ‘website worth’ and is based on the number (and quality) of sites that link to a website. People are generally obsessed with PR because high pagerank often translates into increased organic traffic. Additionally, high pagerank also means increases opportunities for webmasters who sell advertising space on their websites.

Pagerank Is Always Fluctuating

Although everyone gets excited every 3 or 4 months, when Google updates the toolbar pagerank, actual PR is always fluctuating. Toolbar pagerank is simply a snapshot of the actual pagerank picture. This means that actual pagerank and toolbar pagerank may vary, especially as time lags between updates.
