Pandora, a popular music-streaming service, just announced that it too has been affected by the economy, and just laid off 20 of its employees.
Yesterday, in a blog post entitled A Sad Day, Pandora founder Tim Westergren wrote:
This is a very sad day for Pandora, and for me personally. Today we reduced our staff from 140 to 120 employees. Like virtually every company, Pandora is not immune to the challenges presented by the current economic turmoil. We are trying to react quickly and responsibly to the new environment.
Pandora is only the latest in a large group of other web-based companies which have made similar announcements. Some other recent headliners this month have been AdBrite, and eBay which laid off more than 1,000 employees! Can your website survive the economy?
But we’re hoping that Pandora will rebound. It’s a great service which offers free ad-supported music. Besides, it supplies the tunes that keep us working here at Velvet Blues.
So, if you haven’t heard of Pandora, go check it out. You will not be disappointed.
